THE AIRPLANE APARTMENT

THESSALONIKI, GREECE

2012

The apartment was a typical example of an urban residence of the 50s consisting of long and narrow corridors and many rooms. The walls were knocked down and the flooring was removed, allowing a complete redesign of the residence with significant changes to the interior. At that stage, interesting materials were discovered such as an old brick chimney, cement tiles and pelmets around the ceiling which were restored to create focal points for the end design. Underfloor heating and central air conditioning were incorporated. The furniture, except for the sofa and the dining room chairs, were custom made for the specific apartment.
