ELADIA

ELADIA

Marmaras, Greece

2015

Eladia is a restaurant and deli serving and selling local produce. It is located in Neos Marmaras of Halkidiki, on the busy promenade of the village overlooking the sea. The location led to the decision to situate the main dining area outside, while the deli was organized inside. The courtyard is extroverted and integrated with the bustling nature of the location, with references to traditional Greek delis and restaurants (traditional coffee shop, restaurants, taverns), achieved by the differences in the choices of equipment. In contrast, the interior has the characteristics of a warm, Greek, domestic kitchen. The small size of the site in relation to the high ceiling lead to the development of the product showcasing in the vertical direction. In the center lies the deli refrigerator that works a point of sale, service and preparation area all in one. The main architectural element is the overhanging wooden white grids bespoke structure from where lighting fixtures are suspended, which luminates the dark surface of the ceiling. Materials such as wood, painted blue metal, tiles and marble, created an inviting, bright and familiar space.
